The Rochester Contemporary Art Center (RoCo) will hold its famous exhibition and sale, 6x6x2014, from June 7–July 13. Howe & Rusling will sponsor the event that has become an international small art phenomenon in just its seventh year. 6x6 is an exhibition in which every piece must be 6x6 square inches, or mounted on a 6x6 board. The artwork is made and donated by people from all walks of life including celebrities, international and local artists, designers, college students, children, etc. You do not need any artistic experience to participate. They want artwork from everyone from all ages and skill levels. All entries are accepted, exhibited in the gallery and online, and offered for sale for $20 each.

This year, there will be 6,700 works of art by 2,500 artists representing over 60 countries. Each piece is signed only on the back and remains anonymous while on display and when being sold. Online purchasing began June 10th at 10 AM. Purchased artwork can be picked up from July 13-16 from 12-9 PM. Admission to the exhibition is $2 for non-members and free for members of the RoCo.

The Rochester Contemporary Art Center was founded in 1977 as a not-for-profit organization. It aims to promote contemporary art in upstate New York with educational programs, film and lecture series, performance art, multi-media projects, and an extensive exhibition schedule. Some of the important parts of the comprehensive mission of the RoCo are to offer contemporary art programming; present the work of renowned and emerging local, national, and international artists; provide exhibition, educational, and networking opportunities to local artists; and build community by bringing artists, patrons, students, teachers, and enthusiasts together.

The Rochester Contemporary Art Center is the only non-profit contemporary art organization in the greater Rochester area, and the 6x6 exhibition and sale is their only fundraiser. Attending and buying something at the 6x6 exhibition is both fun and a great way to help an organization and an event that embody support for artists, arts institutions, creativity, and participation!

The normal gallery hours are Wednesday–Sunday: 1–5 PM and Friday: 1–10 PM. RoCo is located at 137 East Ave, just a few steps from Howe & Rusling.
